First things first – If you aren’t coming to Sheffield’s with us for the season opener… you’re blowing it and everything bad that may happen throughout the course of this season will likely be your fault. So get it together and come lose your mind with us.
Now that that’s out of the way… let’s talk some hockey. The last time we saw anything hockey related, we were watching captain Dustin Brown and the rest of the Kings skate the Stanley Cup around Los Angeles ice for the first time in franchise history. Then everything went black.
I launched the site that became TheCommittedIndian.com in the summer of 2008. Why would you start a blog about a hockey team that few in the city seemed to care about in the middle of the summer? Because you’re an idiot.
We launched this particular site in the summer of 2012, just before a possibly (definitely?) crippling lockout that almost saw the NHL lose its second full season in recent memory. Why? Again, because we’re idiots. This is known.
HOWEVER! We’re very proud to announce that the NHL is once again starting up and we’re going to kick it off in a bigger way than we ever have before. We’re teaming up with Sheffield’s (one of the best craft beer bars in the country, just ask Draft Magazine) and Two Brothers (feel free to guess why) to announce our first road watch party for this Saturday’s season opener.

Wow. It has been a while since we’ve had a game day thread for a game that actually means something, has it not? Hopefully it will not be much longer, though I do not know if most, if any, really care about all the idiots involved in the actual “professional” hockey league at this point.
And if you do not, well you came to the right place. This is our space to celebrate our teenage citizens as they battle for a gold medal after having defeated the always favorites up north. Forget all the asshats playing for more money than most of us will see fighting the even bigger twerps making more than all of us combined. This is just about kids playing for their countries and it is always a blast to watch… especially when it is for a gold medal.
Anyways, I am writing this while watching a rematch of the USA/Canada game and am somehow oddly looking forward to waking up early to watch the game tomorrow. I cannot say I have followed the tournament that closely this year thanks to the odd game time starts but I have got my coffee (and maybe a beer) ready to go for tomorrow. I will just leave this right here.

With the lockout now canceling regular season games, we’re all going to need a way to cope. And what better way to cope with anything than alcohol, right? Of course!
So while we’re all waiting to hear if the owners and the union can ever each an agreement on whether it should be Jimmy Johns or Hannah’s Bretzel that caters their meeting, we’ll be bringing you a weekend drinking guide to help you get through your days where you feel like punching a wall. Sometimes it may be a bar, sometimes a brewery, or maybe just whichever particular beer we’re digging this week. Join us, won’t you? Alcoholics, like misery, love company.
We’ve been waiting for this announcement for a while – The NHL announced the first set of games to be cancelled for the year this afternoon. The news doesn’t, or at least shouldn’t, come to a shock for anyone as anyone following this even remotely (and that’s about as close as I’ve gone with these charades) saw the writing on the wall long ago.
All games from October 11th to the 24th are now cancelled but not quite lost to history just yet. The NHL left the door open for a condensed schedule to be made if the league and the PA can reach a deal in the next few weeks. When asked if the league and the union planned to meet in the coming weeks and what steps would be taken to help resolve the many issues between the two groups, Gary Bettman only responded thusly.
