Everything Else

The kids down Rockford way have been red-hot in their last week of action. The IceHogs return to the BMO Harris Bank Center Tuesday with a five-game winning streak in tow.

Rockford won in Grand Rapids Wednesday and followed that up with back-to-back pastings of the San Antonio Rampage this weekend. The IceHogs are 7-2-0-1 through their first ten games and sit atop the AHL’s Midwest Division as of Monday.

With 15 points on the 2014-15 campaign, Rockford is currently in second place in the AHL’s Western Conference. The Hogs also have a new captain in place and an offense that has scored 18 times in the last four games. Here are some notes on a very successful road trip.

The Rockford IceHogs skated to a 2-1 record this past week, winning back-to-back home tilts this weekend over Midwest Division rivals Chicago and Lake Erie. As Rockford prepares to hit the road again, they now sit behind the red-hot Milwaukee Admirals in the division standings.

With a 4-2-0-1 mark and nine points on the 2014-15 campaign, the IceHogs occupy the fourth spot in the AHL’s Western Conference. Here’s how the past week unfolded for Rockford.

The Rockford IceHogs are preparing to finish up their longest road jaunt of 2014-15. So far it has been a productive one with the Hogs taking five of six points in their first three games of the trip. Rockford bested Adirondack and Hamilton on Thursday and Saturday before losing a shootout to Toronto Sunday afternoon.

Ladies and Gentlemen…your 2014-15 IceHogs

With some late roster moves coming down in the last few days, it would appear that the opening night roster is nearly set in Rockford for the 2014-15 campaign. As Norman Dale would say, let’s see what kind of hand we’ve been dealt here…

Everything Else

There wasn’t much to talk about after last night’s what-have-ya at the United Center. About the only people who looked interested were the ones fighting for notice. And the only ones who had enough skill to do that were Danault, Morin, and Rasmussen. Other than that, it looks like the veterans are already bored and the ice is already shitty. So we’ll just run through some notes quickly.

With the rookie tournament in the books, Blackhawks prospects will soon be gathering out West (of Chicago on I-90 anyway) for another season skating in the name of the pig.

I’ll be posting on all things Rockford this season for TCI (when I can tear myself away from the Olive Garden, that is). My name is Jon Fromi and I have been contributing to The Third Man In for the past few seasons. I spend a few dozen nights at the BMO watching tomorrow’s stars today and will try to keep you abreast on those players the Hawks have entrusted to the Forest City.

Everything Else

Week 28 of the AHL schedule was a week to forget for the IceHogs—and at this time of the year, that isn’t something that needs to happen. After falling to Milwaukee earlier in the week, the Hogs dropped 2 of their 3 contests over the weekend to set themselves very far back in the playoff race.
