War On Ice

Tonight shaped up as a pretty good test for the Hawks. There is no hotter team in the league than Tampa, and they are considered an Eastern favorite (Eastern Favorite is an excellent Pho place in Uptown). They have as much speed as the Hawks can boast, and a Vezina finalist in net. Considering how the Hawks had done against this season’s glitterati (hint: not all that well), even though there are no such things as big games in the second week of November you did want to see the Hawks get this one. They did, and looked pretty damn good doing it.

WE’RE GONNA HAVE A SANDWICH: Habs Eyes On The Prize

The traveling Viagra promotional caravan stops in Montreal tonight (because they can’t score, see?), as the Hawks invade what used to be The Keg but is now the…Ringtone? Hardline? I don’t know, communications companies don’t make for great nicknames for arenas.

SUFFERING SCOUSER LIKE MYSELF: Pension Plan Puppets

The Hawks take on the second half of the Ontario double tonight, sliding into the ACC for Hockey Night In Canada and a tussle with the constant narrative that is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

One would assume that this is where Corey Crawford returns to the lineup. He was the backup on Thursday so he’s clearly just about ready. He could be saved for tomorrow night at home against the Jets, but you feel like tonight’s the night.

Everything Else

The first month of the season is in the books–well, it’s the first three weeks but with the Hawks having played all the games in October they’re going to it just makes it cleaner to do this now. We haven’t learned all that much about the Hawks this month that we didn’t already know. They’re a very good team, they have a couple roster holes that they still haven’t really cleared up, and the power play gets a lot of chances but doesn’t finish as often as anyone would like, like a drunk male model.

So, what have we seen this month?
