NOT STUCK IN MEMPHIS: On The Forecheck

For the second straight game, the Hawks will get to host a team that played on the road the night before. Perhaps it’s a bid by the NHL to make it up to the Hawks for making them play 31 back-to-backs per year or whatever it was in previous years. Perhaps it’s just luck of the draw. Either way, the Hawks get their first look at a Nashville team that actually could be… dare I say it… entertaining? Nah, couldn’t be, could it?

Everything Else

So I didn’t get through the whole Central before the season started. Whoops. There were things to do. Luckily all we have left are the two teams that are most certainly going to be the also-rans in this division, unless Peter Laviolette can find leftover Trotz elixir and sprinkle it on his Preds. Am I half-assing this? Yes, of course. But no more so than the Jets spent building their team, so I don’t feel too bad about it.

FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES: On The Forecheck

The Hawks continue their late season homestand with another encounter with a bottom-feeder of the league, this time in their own division with the Nashville Predators. While the Carolina Hurricanes barely roused the Hawks’ attention, the Predators’ recent success against the Hawks should have them more tuned in whatever their current standing.

BLOGS OF THE BRIDGESTONE: On The Forecheck

Back to the scene of one of the crimes. The last time the Hawks sauntered down I-65 they got smacked around but good thanks to Nikolai Khabibulin’s groin crumbling under the weight of his paycheck/liver and Corey Crawford pulling the full Dante “I’m not even supposed to be here today.” Hopefully, things will go a little better tonight.

GIMME, GIMME, GIMME THE HONKEY TONK BLUES: The incomparable On The Forecheck

There’s only one storyline for the Hawks tonight, and obviously it’s KRS-23 suiting up in his first game back with the Hawks. If there was any danger of the Hawks either not taking this one fully seriously or getting caught looking ahead to the Sharks tomorrow night, there should be an extra jump in everyone’s step with Versteeg joining the ranks. As you know by now, Steeger will skate on the 3rd line with Bryan Bickell and Andrew Shaw. The combination of Chicken Hawk and VerStud might give the Hawks the yappiest line they’ve iced in… forever?
