You Bet That I’ve Got Something Personal Against You: The Royal HalfJewels From The CrownBattle of California

After two pretty thrilling games, things now end up on back on Madison for one final showdown as the Hawks were able to upset the Kings in LA on Friday. The big question is simply – how much do the Hawks have left in the tank?

As Fels stated after Wednesday’s game, the Hawks were running in the red for just about the whole game. And of course they did with with largely only 9 forwards. Things were more of the same Friday night. Bollig played only 6:46, Handzus only 9:25. Patrick Kane meanwhile played 20:40, more than any other forward and more than even Seabrook. It certainly didn’t hurt his game in the third though.

Jamming Econo: The Royal HalfJewels From the CrownBattle of Cali

Thursday seems like it was forever ago (or maybe I just need to get more sleep) but the memory is probably still pretty fresh for both sides coming into a pretty crucial Game 5. The Kings are licking their wounds after a miserable third period that we’ve covered and reveled in for the past two days. If anyone knows that a 3-1 series lead isn’t safe though, it’s going to be Chicago, seeing as how they offed their rivals in the last series despite being in the exactly same spot.

For tonight, the Hawks don’t need to change much but can’t pause for a second and think the series is safe. LA is going to be a difficult spot to find a second win in and anything can happen in a Game 7. With Boston waiting, this needs to end tonight.

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Chicago Blackhawks at Los Angeles KingsThe Kings were undefeated at home so far in the playoffs. The Kings were 22-0 when scoring first all season long. The Blackhawks were without their best defenseman (and possibly just their best overall player). The Blackhawks found themselves down a goal twice in the game. And none of it really mattered. After a simply dominant third period, the Blackhawks found themselves up 3-1 in the series and the games shift back to Chicago on Saturday night. It’s not over yet but the finals are clearly back in our sights as the Kings need to win 3 in a row to close this out… and yes, that includes two games on the road for LA, where they’ve been awful.

Well, sometimes that’s gonna go happen.

I can’t decide what’s the more obnoxious trend after losses like this. The people actually losing their mind or the people so eager to make fun of the people losing their mind that they haven’t actually bothered to notice that no one is losing their mind. I’ll let you all debate that.

While the Hawks weren’t near the top of their game and the Kings certainly upped theirs, we’re talking about a broken-stick goal and some pretty nifty Quick saves in the 3rd leading to a one-goal loss in a building where the hosts haven’t lost in two months. Excuse me while I set my hair on fire. Oh wait, I don’t have any hair. So I guess we’ll just calm ourselves down with the notion that it was highly unlikely that the Hawks were going to get both of these games and move on to Thursday night. Deal?

Oh, hello again everyone. You recovered from Saturday’s festivities? Got some good brunch in you? Maybe a Bloody Mary? Good. It’s just about time for some afternoon hockey then.

This afternoon the Blackhawks face the reigning Champions for the second time this season. I’m sure we all remember how the first match up went but just in case you need a reminder, it was pretty damn awesome for the men of four feathers and their fans.
