    That’s how I’ve felt since it all ended. I’m not sure where my feet are. I only have a loose grasp of where my hands are occupying. I’m sure you get it.

    Maybe it’s fitting. Maybe this is how it had to be. To rip the hearts out of your most loathed rival they way they’ve been doing in various fashions for so long I think I just want to hurl and cry at the same time. And I can’t afford to lose that many liquids out of my face. Maybe that’s the ultimate justice.

    Does it erase all the scar tissue? No, of course not. Is it pretty fucking sweet that the end of the Hawks-Wings Western Conference rivalry will forever be known on Brent Fucking Seabrook mind-shifting one home? Yeah. Yeah it is. There’s no other way to say it.

    We thought it was coming back in April. Then Scum shocked almost no one outside of Orange County by giving the paper tiger Ducks more than they could handle in seven games to draw one final matchup with the Hawks. The consensus had been that the Hawks would make short work of Detroit (this blog included), but an outfit as decorated as this would not cooperate so easily, pushing the top seeded Hawks to the brink of elimination with a commanding 3-1 series lead. But the Hawks have pushed back and forced a decisive Game 7 on West Madison, with tonight marking, at long last the final meaningful intraconference meeting of these two heritage franchises. And it should be fitting that so much is on the line.

  • Beard Of The Day – May 29th – Questlove

    uestloveHe was born Ahmir Khalib Thompson but is commonly known as Questlove… or perhaps ?uestlove. Either way, I guess. He comes from a strong musical family as both his mother and father were strong and active members of the Philadelphia soul and doo-wop scenes. Rather than paying for babysitters when they toured, they simply took Questlove on the road. Not a bad way to get your children interested in the arts.

    By the age of seven, Questlove was already drumming in front of crowds. He studied at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (where classmates included Boyz  II Men, among others) and by the time he graduated he had formed a band called The Square Roots… more commonly known now as simply The Roots. Their 1999 album Things Fall Apart brought them initial fame and they haven’t looked back. Not content with just performing, Questlove has branched out into producingDJing, writing and even has his own shoe design with Nike… because… why not?

    Of course, he also rocks a solid scraggly beard with an afro to match. And despite all he’s got going on.. he’s not afraid to throw down in a drum solo battles.

  • You May Ask Yourself, How Did I Get Here?

    I’ll admit it. I lost the faith last night. During the 2nd intermission. I felt the sweet embrace of the end growing within me. I’ve seen it before. I didn’t tweet it, or text my brother or Kills as I might normally do. It felt like last year’s Game 6 again. A brief opening flurry, watching the second period drift away. I was sure it would be followed by a brief spasm of a death rattle, before Scum cleanly and efficiently took the game, season, rivalry, bragging rights, and seemingly everything else away with them.

    I should have known better. This team is made of sterner stuff. And Brendan Smith and Carlo Colaiacovo were going to be on the ice. Always a chance with that.

  • Beard Of The Day – May 28th – John Williams

    johnwilliams3Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings Scum, Game 7, Last game as division rivals. That’s going to make for a pretty epic game, no?

    Well, when you need to score something epic, there’s really only one person you turn to – John Williams. From Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Superman and of course Jaws. Williams has been conducting the scores for some of the greatest movies ever made. If there’s anyone who could write a song worthy of the game we’ll experience on Wednesday, it’d be him. Listen to this medley and tell me it doesn’t get you pumped up.
