Pigs In Zen: 2 Out Of 3 Ain’t Too Shabby

Now that the three of us have returned to our normal, NHL-watching ways, we needed to find someone else to chime in with our Rockford Icehogs update. Luckily, we found one Kim Wrona, from Runs On Duncan.com to help us out with that. So this will be the first installment of Pigs In Zen, Kim’s Hogs update. Now let’s show how adult we can all be by giving here a warm welcome. -Sam

After winning three games at the end of December, the IceHogs went on to lose four straight to kick off the new year. They rebounded at the end of Week 14 in the AHL as they defeated Grand Rapids and Milwaukee on back-to-back nights.

    Sell The Kids For Food

Time to check in on the Hawks prospects.

Let’s start in the OHL, where Garrett Ross was named OHL player of the week. Seven points in three games will do that for a player. He currently stands at 49 points in 38 games, which is good enough to be in the top 20 in the league. That actually puts him right behind Boone Jenner, who very well may be a Jacket this time on Saturday. Though Jenner is a couple years younger. While Ross shouldn’t be pegged as a future star or anything anytime soon, he assuredly should be watched when he gets to Rockford next year. Though all of it comes with the caveat that he is playing against kids he is older than.

Well, We're Waiting – The Committed Indian.com's Season Preview: Marlboro 72

A quick note. You all seem to be caught off guard with the multiple posts recently. I know, it’s weird. But we’re going to keep doing it, so be prepared. Comment on all of them.

Right, to the blue line. There is no surer unit than the Hawks top pairing. There’s no speculation, there’s no controversy, and it remains the envy of a lot of teams in the league. At least there’s one thing we can all count on. So the only thing we have to figure out is how to tweak it.

  • Maybe Partying Will Help: TheCommittedIndian.com Launch/Blackhawks Season Opener Road Watch

I launched the site that became TheCommittedIndian.com in the summer of 2008. Why would you start a blog about a hockey team that few in the city seemed to care about in the middle of the summer? Because you’re an idiot.

We launched this particular site in the summer of 2012, just before a possibly (definitely?) crippling lockout that almost saw the NHL lose its second full season in recent memory. Why? Again, because we’re idiots. This is known.

HOWEVER! We’re very proud to announce that the NHL is once again starting up and we’re going to kick it off in a bigger way than we ever have before. We’re teaming up with Sheffield’s (one of the best craft beer bars in the country, just ask Draft Magazine) and Two Brothers (feel free to guess why) to announce our first road watch party for this Saturday’s season opener.

Short story – be there (3258 N Sheffield Ave) on Saturday for the 2:00PM start against the defending champion LA Kings. Long story – click below…

Well, We're Waiting – The Commited Indian.com's Season Preview: And Then There's Maude (The Rest Of The Forwards)

So let’s clean up the rest of the forwards, as in those who will or might make an appearance or two in the Indian Head this season. It might be more than you expect, as this compacted, back-to-back heavy schedule could lead to the injuries piling up. So let’s wrap it up and we can move on to the blue line.

Well, We're Waiting – The Committed Indian.com's Season Preview – The 4th Line (Or What Should Have Been)

Well, as we know this has gotten all jumbled a bit, but we’re still going to hold strong with what we see the lineup shaking out as. As long as we get to everyone, we should be ok. Anyway, we’ll do this one and then later today the extra/rookie forwards who might pop up during the season. Then off to the defense and goaltending and such. Who’s excited?!

    To it, then:
