Just another day in the life of the born loser.
I’m feeling all alone, I’m the one to blame and then you blame it on me.
She’s static and cold, her death trip is getting old.

Now that the trading deadline has passed, the season enters into what is generally regarded as the home stretch. Much to the dismay of many in Blackhawks Nation, GM Stan Bowman by and large maintained the status quo on West Madison. However the same can not be said for tonight’s divisional opponent, the always cantankerous and rarely smart St. Louis Blues.
I wonder who he replaces: CSN Chicago
Stan decided not to bring in new faces: ESPN Chicago
Though plenty of guys changed places: TSN
Hopefully the Hawks will put the Blues through their paces: Blackhawks
Maybe it is time to shorten the races: SI
I haven’t looked at my Twitter today since about 2, and I don’t think I’m going to. I’m sure I know what it’s filled with. And right now I don’t want to read a bunch of stuff about how Stan fucked us all out of another Cup because he didn’t discover that Wayne Gretzky actually was able to reverse in age yesterday and is now 26 again and just dying to play for the Hawks. Or that he wasn’t able to pry Vinny Lecavalier away from the Lightning for a 5th round pick and get permission from Bettman to tear up his contract at season’s end with absolutely no penalty because the NHL loves the Hawks that much.
In the end, we knew what this day would consist of. The Hawks made the one move they had available to them on Monday. Though I’m not enamored with Michal Handzus, he is kind of what they were looking for. If you want to get upset about something, go apeshit about when he’s playing wing tomorrow and Bolland is still centering for Kane and doing a horrible job of it but having it masked by Kane channeling Denis Savard ’85.
The IceHogs needed to keep on racking up the points in their games in week 25 and Tuesday of week 26 in order to maintain the pace of the Western Conference points race. During this four game homestand, they needed to take at least 6 of 8 points, but they only got half of the available points.
Well, it’s now upon us. Discuss it all here. After the jump you’ll find some of the more reputable twitter handles to keep an eye on during the day.

First off – You’ve likely already heard the news that both Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin has been reassigned to Rockford this morning. This isn’t (or at least shouldn’t be) about their level of play in their time with the big club.
It’s more likely an indication that the roster is getting awfully tight. Michael Handzus is on his way to do whatever it is Michael Handzus is capable of doing. And the better implication is that Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp are even closer to a return. Maybe tomorrow? Time will tell.
The bigger and better news though – it’s time for yet another road watch with your favorite degenerate functional alcoholics. No, not your Uncle Roger… us.
This Saturday we’re taking over the back room of Sheffield’s once again to watch the Blackhawks take on the Predators in the afternoon match up. As we did last time, we’ll be having drink specials from one of my favorite local breweries, Two Brothers. Buckets of Outlaw (check out them spiffy colors) will be $20 and all Two Brothers pints are $4. Come raise a glass or can with us.
