In a game facing a goalie starting in his first NHL game, the Hawks certainly did their best to throw everything, including the kitchen sink, at him. They put 18 shots on him in the first and finished out with 44 total, the most of the year thus far. It seems to be a common theme that a back up goalie comes up huge against the Hawks and comes out with a win. It seems that trend holds true for rookie debuts. While Reto Berra didn’t have to make too many spectacular saves, he was solid in his first start while the Hawks showed some tired legs. It still ends up with 3 points in back to backs… I’m not pissed.
Once upon a time there was light in my life, but now there’s only love in the dark. Nothing I can say, a total eclipse of the heart.
Turnaround bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round. Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears.

Obey The Cow God: Flames Nation
For what seems like the fiftieth time already in this young season, the Hawks will turn right back around after a routine affair in The Peg yesterday afternoon to take on the Flames on West Madison. Calgary hasn’t won in their last 10 trips to the UC,, and tonight certainly shouldn’t be an opportunity for them to break that streak.
Remember the countless times we’ve said “If the other goalie wasn’t standing on his head, this game could have gotten way out of hand” over the last six seasons or so? Today’s tilt against the Jets was pretty much the exact opposite of that. The Jets goaltending was atrocious. And the Blackhawks put this one away rather simply and easily. On to the bullets.
Here comes that beer from last night again…
Whoops.
Have at it.
