There are few artists with as diverse of a collection of works as Chicago’s Shel Silverstein. From childrens’ books, to poetry, to songwriting, to stage productions, to illustrations for Playboy comics in the magazine’s hayday, the perpetually bearded Silverstein left behind a prolific resume at the time of his death in 1999.

While the forwards that McClure previewed still have some threat and generational skill sprinkled throughout, when Hawks fans look at this back end is when they probably start licking their chops. The Scum defense was passable enough to see off a Ducks team that really only has one threatening line, as suddenly Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu looked every bit of the combined 175 years old that they in fact are. They will get no such respite here.
Here’s how the pairings shake out:
Now that the Hawks finally have a second round opponent, it’s time to take a closer look at the Detroit Red Wings’ forwards. The names and faces might be familiar and nauseating, but it’s a necessary evil. So plug your nose, and we might be able to get through this together.

As we await the Hawks’ second round opponent on this Sunday, we’d like to take the opportunity to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. And in doing so, I present to Chicagoan William Petersen, best known as the salt-and-pepper bearded medical examiner Gil Grissom on CSI, and a personal favorite of both my mother and grandmother.
Happy Mother’s Day from The Committed Indian.
It could be a little while til we get to see the Hawks play again. Just before I wrote this, the Wings forced a Game 7 in Anaheim that isn’t going to be played til 9PM Central on Sunday. Then the Bulls will have the UC on Monday so it’s not likely we see the Men of Four Feathers play again til Tuesday or Wednesday.
So why not curl up with a good long book? Our boy Leo has a few good options for you. Born in the 1820’s to a Russian noble family, Tolstoy found himself a pretty lousy student and became a drinker, gambler and a man quite fond of brothels (He described this as “rioting with loose women”.. which is kinda awesome). Rather than going through life as fat drunk and stupid, he joined the army and began to write. His travels and experiences around the world led him to become a Anarcho-Pacifist, which is pretty cool, going on to inspire others like Gandhi, MLK Jr, and many more.
Tolstoy’s most famous work is War & Peace, which weighs in at a hefty 3.5 lbs paperback (According to Cliff), ought to be more than enough to tide us all over. If that doesn’t work for you – I think they just made a movie out of Anna Karenina… if that’s more your thing.

Ducks v Scum – 7:00 Central – CNBC
Blues v Kings – 9:00 Central – NBCSN
Three potential handshakes tonight. Discuss them here. Should the Ducks send Scum into the Sarlaac pit, our Sharks preview will begin this weekend even if the schedule won’t be out for a bit.
