If we’ve proven nothing else in now the fifth season of doing this idiotic bit, it’s that we clearly have a thing for obscure yet omnipresent character actors. And in the comedic realm, there really is no finer bit player than Chicagoan Gary Cole.
In the past, he’s played Mike Brady, Reese Bobby, drug dealer Ted Jones, and most famously Bill Lumbergh, all with varying degrees of facial hair. At present, he can be found on the excellent Veep as a smug dick of a White House number-cruncher (is there any other kind?) with a full salt and pepper beard.
