It’s time once again for another rousing edition of our podcast, Live From The Five Hole. This time Chris Block of The Third Man In joins the fray to elaborate on the comings and goings from Rock Vegas. Ryan Lambert of Puck Daddy, Deadspin, and other even more nefarious reaches of the internet (we assume) also offers insight on not only why the Flames have been so surprisingly good this season, but also some of the scoop on Jack Eichel and his pro prospect status coming out of Boston University.
Like a mangy dog looking for scraps in the alleyway, we’ve finally come around to recording another one of these things. For some reason there was a bit of a clamor for it, even though it seemed like no one listened to them the first go around. In any event, we’re all back for all of your podcasting delights. Or at least Sam and I are in this episode.
We’re also working on a slightly new format, one that’s a little more guest-intensive, because no one wants to listen to either of us yammer on to each other for an hour straight and not be a paid member of Chicago’s bartending service industry. So this episode will feature:
And Chris Gift of St. Louis Game Time (the publication) gracing Sam with 8 minutes of his attention between innings of a Cardinals spring training game.
We’ll work on getting it back up into iTunes and such, but that requires a bit of vetting and we’ve got to start all over again since we’ve moved down the block. But for now, you can download it here.

After last night’s pretend game against a very real Penguins roster wherein the Hawks’ B-cast relatively held their own, more cuts came down today from on high.
The following players won an all-expenses paid trip to lovely Rock Vegas:
The #Blackhawks have assigned eight players: D. LeBlanc, T. Broadhurst, P. Danault, B. Froese, K. Beach, A. Raanta, B. Mills, M. Shalunov.
Game Time: 7:00PM Central TV/Radio: WGN, 97.9 The Loop Glorified Trailer Park: St. Louis Game Time
Thus ends the 48 game prelude to the portion of the hockey season that truly matters. And there are fewer ways more satisfying that how the Hawks are doing so today, by sauntering down I-55 with a troop of kids to take on the Blues in a game that means nothing to the Hawks, and quite a bit to the Blues.
