  • Quenneville and the Evolution of Player Usage

Love him or hate him, Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Joel Quenneville has helped breathe life back into hockey in Chicago. Since his arrival in Chicago in 2008, the team has won the Stanley Cup twice, made it to the Western Conference Final four times, and been in the playoffs every season. Obviously, this is not only Quenneville’s doing as he does have some amazing players on his roster, but there are other teams in the league with good players who have not enjoyed this kind of success. This past season, the Blackhawks found themselves a goal away from the Stanley Cup Final; however, getting there was a wild ride.

My Least Favorite Hawk – Karl Stewart

You were thinking it would be somebody else, weren’t you?

As far as forgettable Hawks go, Karl Stewart probably ranks somewhere between  Andrei Zyuzin and Jeff Hamilton. Stewart played 37 games for arguably one of the worst Hawk teams in franchise history, the 2006-2007 version. In those 37 games, Stewart scored 2 goals and 3 assists while registering 43 penalty minutes.

  • My Least Favorite Hawk – Bobby Hull

My Least Favorite Hawk – Bobby Hull

Continuing in the series, Alex Sheridan (@lawnie2 and The Full Amonte) has a few words for Bobby Hull.

This is the best thing Bobby Hull ever gave us. I could give two shits about his team-record 604 goals, 1,153 career points, or status as the first player to ever break the 50 goal mark. Hell, a 1961 Stanley Cup is pretty much worthless to me, too. His son, on the other hand, is one of the greatest goal scorers of all time, and trolls Buffalo like nobody’s business (I bet Brett never missed wide right…) But how can I praise a guy who played much of his career in St. Louis and Detroit, while shoveling shit on his father, whose number is in the rafters at the United Center?

  • Don’t Let The Doorknob Hit You

Don’t Let The Doorknob Hit You

In what was an inevitable turn of events, Kevin Hayes allowed the statute of limitations or whatever on signing his entry level deal with the Blackhawks expire, and as a result is now a free agent and free to sign with any team he pleases. And that’s ok.
