So here it is once again. On the brink of elimination for one final time in the West at the hands of Scum. That old familiar sting. We try to kill it all away, but we remember everything.
I don’t need to tell you about Bruce Springsteen. You should all know Bruce Springsteen. I can confirm after seeing him in Wrigley last year, that even after reaching 60 years old… he’s still cooler than just about everyone else. I wish he still dressed like a Rock & Roll hobo with a full on beard though.
Yeah, I know. The light out of the darkness is looking awfully faint, if it can be seen at all. There’s an overwhelming urge to start declaring who takes the fall, who doesn’t, what changes need to be made going forward, what went wrong, all that.
But really, this is not over. Maybe it feels like that to you, but the margins of this 3-1 deficit just aren’t all that large. To overturn it, a massive transformation doesn’t have to be engineered. In fact, a lot of the Hawks are doing already is all that needs to be done. It just can’t be interrupted.
Last night, aren’t we essentially talking about the difference in Leddy and Kindl taking the exact same shot from the same place, both hitting the inside of the post, one going in and one going out? That’s pretty much what separated teams last night.
You can’t win all three games tomorrow night. You can only win the one. So how do the Hawks go about doing that?
The road is fucking hard. It’s also really fucking tough.
So much to say when so confused and so shocked.
I don’t think anyone, whatever side you’re on, though we’d find ourselves here. While the temptation is to start pointing fingers and do the postmortem, we’re not there yet. Because after two very close games, the Hawks have come up on the wrong end for small reasons. Let’s try and parse out how they got here, who’s responsible, and why they’ll come back in this series (and they will).
Most arrows in the quiver are being aimed at Q. Most of them are justified, some aren’t. The rest are being aimed at Toews. Mostly fair too. But for the first time tonight in the 3rd with a 2-on-1, Toews deferred when he shouldn’t have. That’s discouraging. But it’s not the end of the tale.
You say, “You’re better dead than blind.”
You stick to your story. Every story has someone that they stick to. You pay for your glory. Everybody has someone they aspire to. And I aspire to you. But I won’t follow you. To live a life untrue.
Hang up and listen. You found your direction and cut the line. Night flight to Paris. You’d rather leave than lose your sight.

Finally, the hour is nearly upon us. Approximately 15 minutes after the horn sounded ending Game 3, I was ready for Game 4. I doubt I was hardly alone with that thinking. And so here we are.
We’ve had plenty of time to beat the dead horses that were Game’s 2 and 3 and the narratives have already been decided by the powers that be. The Blackhawks are the President Trophy winning team unable to match the “will” or “intensity” of those pesky Red Wings. Meanwhile, no matter what the stat sheet says from this point forth, the Red Wings have found a way to shut down the Blackhawks vaunted attack. Should the Hawks win, it was just what was supposed to happen all along.
