The words are so familiar; all the same greats, the same mistakes, it doesn’t have to be like this

Cage In The Water: Fear The Fin
While ten games into a season might be too soon for a “measuring stick” game in any other year, for this shortened campaign, that’s equal to over 20% of the entire season. Given that circumstance, it’s entirely appropriate for these two teams to use tonight to judge where they’re going for the rest of the year. Tonight features a matchup of the two best teams in the conference, with a grand total of 5 points lost between the two out of a possible combined 36, and a single solitary regulation loss.
In our nonstop effort to try to cover every angle of the Men of Four Feathers, this is a new weekly feature we’re going to try out. The hope is to shed a little light on what it is the Hawks are doing from a technical standpoint, and I will try to incorporate more visual aides should this feature stay. As always, any feedback is welcome.
With everyone and their brother braying about the Hawks’ best start since the Nixon administration, Columbus being the perpetual punching bag they’ve been, and Scum waiting here in town for their first visit to the U.C. this year, pretty much everything about tonight absolutley screamed “trap game”. And it pretty much played out that way until the final horn sounded.
Right wing, left wing, chicken wing.
Everyone wants a double feature, they want to be their own damn teacher.
In the last second of life, they’re gonna show you how. How they run this show. Sure. Run it into the ground.

Who Shot J.R.?: Defending Big D
As is going to be the case with a single exception for the next two-plus weeks, the Hawks are once again striking out on that ol’ dusty trail, this time deep into the heart of Texas to take on Joe Niewendyk’s somewhat revamped Stars.
There were lots and lots of goals scored and it’s late on a school night, so hit the jump for our characteristically brilliant insight.
Our long national nightmare is over, as there is now an actual NHL hockey game in the books for us to cover, and it’s about goddamn time. And give the Hawks credit, the display they put on today is about as good as anyone could have drawn it up. Two points are two points, and the giant SAMPLE SIZE asterisk for any and all points made from here on out is attached, but even still, this was quite emphatic.
