Now that we’re all trying to settle the nerves, and pumping in the caffeine to try and get through our various days, would be a good time to clean up what we didn’t have time or the energy to get through in the wee hours. First, all the stat stuff:

Apologies for the lack of a box score or event summary or the other pretty stuff. It’s late and I know what I want to say. Besides, I’m not sure if any of that matters at this point. The Hawks and Ducks just essentially played two games and the series is tied at 1.

PUCK DROP: 8pm (or 20 minutes later) Central
TV/RADIO: NBCSN, CBC In The Great White North, WGN 720
MICKEY GROPERS: Anaheim Calling, Battle Of California
Now that all the teeth-gnashing and forcible hair removal after Game 1’s loss has faded, the Hawks get down to the business of trying to grab a split in Orange County, which is what they needed when this all began anyway. Nothing is fucked here, Dude.
As you may have seen the debate rage on Twitter last night, it looks like there’s going to be one lineup change for the Hawks tonight as Kyle Cumiskey will come in for David Rundblad. Let’s be clear, neither is an answer to any question anyone is asking. This isn’t about one being better than the other. But it is highly strange that after it was clear that Rundblad was struggling with rust after not playing in a month combined with the deficiencies in his game, that Q would then opt to try another d-man who hasn’t played in a month and hasn’t even been playing in the NHL this season save for six games that weren’t all that impressive. It’s unlikely he’ll play enough to make a difference, but then we thought that about Rundblad, didn’t we?

So the Hawks dropped Game 1, does that really frighten people anymore? It shouldn’t. If we’ve learned anything from this team in the past, it’s that they don’t frighten easy. One game doesn’t mean a thing, especially when it’s just the first in a series. Take it easy. Be cool.
And right now, who is really cooler than Idris Elba? Not very many people, that’s for damn sure. Born in London, Elba first started to gain some notoriety DJing in clubs around London but by the mid-90’s had started to appear in various British television series in supporting roles. A small gig in Law & Order though would lead to him landing the role of Stringer Bell on the HBO series, The Wire. Though The Wire never quite got the recognition it deserved while on the air, it’s subsequent devoted following certainly made Elba the largest star from the series. Elba has gone on to win acclaim for his lead role in Luther as well as star in some of the bigger blockbusters worldwide both as Stacker Pentecost in Pacific Rim and of course as the sentry of Asgard, Heimdall in the Marvel Universe, first appearing in Thor and most recently in a small role in the latest Avengers movie. Whatever role he’s in, Elba gives off the appearance of supreme confidence… something the Hawks can easily display on the ice tonight with a win.
