They come over here and they take all our land
They chop of our heads and they boil them in oil
Our children are leaving and we have no heads
We drink and we sing and we drink and we die

Mos Eisley Cantina: Winging It In Motown, Abel to Yzerman
For the first time since Game 7 last may, the Red Wings will visit United Center ice. Between then and now, more than a couple events of note have happened, including the Wings’ long-awaited move to the Eastern Confrence so that the people of Detroit don’t have to stay up late watching their team and risk not being on time the next morning for the jobs they don’t have.

Different day, same result. Unlike the previous game against the Avalanche, the Hawks weren’t nearly as dominant in a losing effort. They played the way you’re supposed to play against the Predators. That is to get chip pucks deep, get behind their defensemen and set up the offense below the goal line.
Your Jesus ain’t gonna save you this time. Your precious savior is laughing, laughing while we die.
When the bell tolls I’ll be fine, they say that living is a lot like dying.
Let’s sing a song about smoke and flames that burn down our lazy yesterdays. Let’s pretend this poverty is fine and sit on our front porches like we do it all the time.

Ghost With A Boner: On The Forecheck
It never seems to fail, whether it’s a front-loaded or back-loaded schedule, but the Hawks always seem to face the Predators in rapid fire bursts. This year is no exception, with the two teams meeting up tonight at the United Center for the first time this season, followed by another here next weekend before both wrap up the regular season in Nash Vegas on April 12th. But obviously tonight is of more pressing concern.

Like a mangy dog looking for scraps in the alleyway, we’ve finally come around to recording another one of these things. For some reason there was a bit of a clamor for it, even though it seemed like no one listened to them the first go around. In any event, we’re all back for all of your podcasting delights. Or at least Sam and I are in this episode.
We’re also working on a slightly new format, one that’s a little more guest-intensive, because no one wants to listen to either of us yammer on to each other for an hour straight and not be a paid member of Chicago’s bartending service industry. So this episode will feature:
- Chris Block of The Third Man In discussing Rockford politics at length.
- Derek from Fear The Fin on the Sharks’ chances in the West.
- And Chris Gift of St. Louis Game Time (the publication) gracing Sam with 8 minutes of his attention between innings of a Cardinals spring training game.
We’ll work on getting it back up into iTunes and such, but that requires a bit of vetting and we’ve got to start all over again since we’ve moved down the block. But for now, you can download it here.
