With long time nemesis Koopa Troopa gone from behind the Nashville Predator bench freeing them from a strict defensive style and Peter Laviolette still trying to figure out who can play his more offensive inclined system, it’s no surprise that for two periods, the Hawks fired almost 30 shots at Carter Hutton while the Preds couldn’t manage more than 10.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, it was still 1-1 and it took a very strong period from Corey Crawford to ensure overtime.
Then Jonathan Toews happened.
On to it.

For the second straight game, the Hawks will get to host a team that played on the road the night before. Perhaps it’s a bid by the NHL to make it up to the Hawks for making them play 31 back-to-backs per year or whatever it was in previous years. Perhaps it’s just luck of the draw. Either way, the Hawks get their first look at a Nashville team that actually could be… dare I say it… entertaining? Nah, couldn’t be, could it?

A Peek At Peaks, But No Perfect Pachydermus Percussion Pitch
So I’ll come clean with you all. Some of my sense of urgency and frustration with the Hawks roster management and such stems from this deep fear I have that I haven’t really talked about. It’s creeping around there though, as ridiculous as it seems on the surface. And it’s this fear that the center of which this team is built around, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, are closer to the end of their peaks than they are to the beginning.
I know, it sounds preposterous. But a lot of studies, including this one, show that a forward’s scoring peak hits around age 25. Well, Kane is 25 and Toews is now past that mark.
However, when I was poking around about this stuff yesterday waiting for printing to finish, I was leveled out by the fact that the Hawks have two other forwards who have stayed above this slide.

Most Peculiar Mama: Flames 2 – Hawks 1 (OT)
Well, that was strange. Seems like the Hawks have this game once or twice a year, where they put up a pornagraphic number of shots but don’t break through, give up a sucker punch, scramble to tie it, and then lose in OT or a shootout (or sometimes they don’t even tie it) I guess it’s good they got this one out of the way early?
