The kids down Rockford way have been red-hot in their last week of action. The IceHogs return to the BMO Harris Bank Center Tuesday with a five-game winning streak in tow.
Rockford won in Grand Rapids Wednesday and followed that up with back-to-back pastings of the San Antonio Rampage this weekend. The IceHogs are 7-2-0-1 through their first ten games and sit atop the AHL’s Midwest Division as of Monday.
With 15 points on the 2014-15 campaign, Rockford is currently in second place in the AHL’s Western Conference. The Hogs also have a new captain in place and an offense that has scored 18 times in the last four games. Here are some notes on a very successful road trip.

Let’s take a departure from the normal wrap here. Because you know what all the bullets would be. We could point out who was a killer in Corsi, but that wouldn’t really matter. There are nights when that doesn’t tell the story, and this is one of them. We could reduce it to Fenwick, but that would still be along the same line. We know the drill here.

Fresh off a frustrating loss in Toronto last night, the Hawks are left with no time to feel sorry about themselves as their tour of Canadian opponents continues this evening against the Jets back on the west side.
The Blackhawks tried really hard to make the Maple Leafs look like a pretty good puck possession team in the first and at least part of the second period of the game tonight. For those who have somehow managed to go without following half of the Leafs fan base on Twitter, that is a tough task. The Leafs were an abysmal possession team last season and while they have made some changes this season, puck possession is not their strong suit.
Goaltending is the Leafs strong suit and that came in mighty handy once the Blackhawks decided they should go ahead and try to win the game. The offensive onslaught in the third period by Chicago was impressive. James Reimer played really well and saved the game for the Leafs.
Game tomorrow so don’t stir in your own juices too much tonight and make sure to eat all of the pastries tomorrow morning so there aren’t any left over for the team.

The Hawks take on the second half of the Ontario double tonight, sliding into the ACC for Hockey Night In Canada and a tussle with the constant narrative that is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
One would assume that this is where Corey Crawford returns to the lineup. He was the backup on Thursday so he’s clearly just about ready. He could be saved for tomorrow night at home against the Jets, but you feel like tonight’s the night.
